DIY Taylor Swift 10th Birthday Party Decor

Tenth birthdays are such a special milestone! My daughter has been talking about turning Double Digits for months now so I really wanted to make this birthday magical for her. I had big plans, but limited time (isn’t that Mom Life?) I was able to create a FAB birthday mantel for relatively cheap with everything arriving within 2 days!!

Create Birthday Magic with Taylor Swift Birthday Decor

I vividly remember my 10th birthday and the excitement I had with the fact I would soon become “Double Digits” in age. I knew for my oldest child’s birthday I wanted to create a core memory and make it as special as possible – one way I could do this is through party decor! For all my kiddo’s birthday’s I’ll decorate the night before to surprise them in the morning with donuts & party decorations. Since this was a milestone birthday, I decided to go all out – and what better way than a Pink & Purple Taylor Swift themed birthday!!

For how to create the viral Giant Friendship Bracelet Banners, check out my blog post with full details here!

Step-By-Step Guide: Taylor Swift Birthday Party Decor

Overall this DIY took me about 2-3 hours to create, including the time to make and hang the Giant Friendship Bracelet Banners. With my plan, I hope to cut your time down by half!

First things first, let’s order your stuff!! I used entirely Amazon Prime to get all the decorations here in just a few days. Some things were even eligible to be over-nighted! Here are my links to each item. I am not yet an affiliate with amazon, so I do not gain commission from any of your purchases, just fyi! I was pleased with each item I ordered, was all here in a timely manner and pretty sturdy overall!

What I searched on Amazon for TS Birthday Decor Supplies:

  • Pink Wall Streamers
  • 2 Sets of Pink & Purple Paper Flowers
  • 10 Balloon & Stars
  • Mini Disco Balls, Various Sizes
  • Iridescent Butterfly & Star Garland
  • Scotch Tape
  • Mini Command Hooks
  • Giant “Beads”
  • Styrofoam Disks
  • Sticker Lettering
  • Fishing Line
  • Upholstery Needle
  • Extra: Giant Pink & Purple Gummy Bears

The wrapping paper and bags I used are all from Target which I picked up while running errands after school drop off. I suggest you wrap presents on a separate day from decorating. It can get overwhelming if you save everything for the night before!

2. Start by hanging the pink wall streamers first. It has a strong adhesive strip on the back, so pull the paper off and align with your ceiling. (I did notice that each end came unstuck by morning so I ended up using scissors to trim down the sides and it’s stayed up for days now without falling!

3. Follow up by creating the Taylor Swift Giant Friendship Bracelets. Here’s my blog link with a step-by-step guide to create here. Once friendship bracelets are made, hang on the mantel using directions from previous blog.

4. Decide paper flower placement. I did a diagonal theme with 6 small, medium & large flowers to the left of the mantel and about 6 various sized paper flowers on the bottom right of the mantel. I used mini command hooks starting up high close to the ceiling and hung a large flowers.  I did this with the top 2 flowers before “cascading” medium and large flowers underneath. The easiest way I attached the smaller flowers was by using a long strip of scotch tape and taping two flowers together. I did this with the bottom 4 flowers on that side. Make the cascading look the same way on the bottom right side.

5. Use command hooks on the ceiling to angle 2 strands of butterfly/star garland. Place one hook slightly in front and at an angel, then tie the garland string into a loop to hang on each hook.

6. Now the fun part! (Sarcasm) the foil balloons I had to blow up myself. I took breaks in between each balloon so I wouldn’t pass out (haha) You could definitely take these in to the grocery store and have them blow up with helium or air, this just takes extra planning and time that I did not have. Once I blew up the number 10 balloon I situated it in the middle of my mantel. I used long string of scotch tape which I looped and stuck on the back on each balloon, I then pushed the balloon gently against my wall to secure. This might take a few loops of tape before they are completely secured. I followed up with the Star Balloons which I placed on the outside corners of my mantel, taping the extra strip of foil to the mantel piece.

7. Spread out your various sized mini disco balls all along your mantel in front of the balloon and down the sides, mixing up the sizes as you go.

8. I had left over paper flowers after hanging them so I displayed the extra flowers on top of gift bags and in front of gifts to add little pops of color.

9. BONUS: I inflated gummy bears and placed them on the table with donuts for in the morning, BUT if you wanted to, the bears would look so cute flanking the bottom of the fireplace on either side.

That’s it!! Such a cute & fun way to celebrate your little Swiftie for their birthday!! For more Party & Home DIY’s subscribe to my page or follow me on socials!
